Michelle Long Accredited Mental Health Social Worker & Registered ANZACATA Art Therapist
With over 20 years of experience as a support worker and therapist, I am deeply committed to providing a safe, inclusive, and nurturing space for people to heal and grow.
My professional journey is grounded in dual qualifications as both a Mental Health Social Worker and an Art Therapist. This unique combination allows me to offer practical, evidence-based mental health support alongside the creative, expressive, and non-verbal benefits of art therapy.
My Clinical Experience
Throughout my career in the Greater Bendigo region, my work has focused heavily on supporting individuals through complex life experiences. My clinical focus includes:
• Trauma and abuse recovery
• Mental health challenges and existential crises
• Family violence
• Homelessness and housing insecurity
• Youth and adolescent challenges
My Approach
I believe that therapy is not a “one-size-fits-all” process. Sometimes, words are not enough to process our experiences. Art therapy offers a gentle, alternative pathway to express feelings, resolve inner conflicts, and develop self-awareness without needing to rely solely on conversation. There is no “right” way to make art in my clinic—scribbles, marks, and unfinished pieces are all welcome.
An Inclusive Practice
I am passionate about making therapeutic support accessible to everyone. My practice proudly supports:
• People of all ages, from infants (with their caregivers) to adults and families.
• Individuals who are non-verbal, or who have hearing, mobility, or visual impairments.
• First Nations Peoples, CALD, neurodivergent, and LGBTIQA+ communities.
When you work with me, you can expect a trauma-informed, person-centered approach where your unique lived experience is respected and valued.
